The Szish Dish: A Fireside Chat — Fashion News with Style

part of being the best me I can be this year means doing things I enjoy….for example snowboarding, volunteering with animimals, and doing as much TV and video as possible — even if only from the toasty comfort of my living room.  stay-at-home hosting gigs, here I come…

Wardrobe Notes: Michael Kors

This is my new blog section called “wardrobe notes” where I share all my glam — and not so glam! — behind-the-scenes fashion details.

I also want to hear from you — what you love, what you hate, even a snapshot of you in YOUR favorite outfit…this is your chance to be part of the Fashion Police, so go for it!  Can’t wait to read your comments and post your pix.

Here’s the skinny on today’s look from The Early Show on CBS (check out yesterday’s debut WARDROBE NOTES post!):

The Wardrobe Files: Wearing Michael Kors on The Early ShowMichael Kors Spring 2008 Ready-to-Wear

Designer: Michael Kors navy blue silk chiffon peasant dress

The Score:  I bought it for about 70% off retail price at the Michael Kors sample sale in March.  The original price tag was $1,995!

History:  The original walked the runway for Spring 2008 (and I remember loving it the moment I saw it in the show), but today marked my dress’ debut.

Accessories:  Bottega Veneta wooden-heel sandals (scored them at the outlet in Palm Springs last year), gold hoop earrings and a gold bangle bracelet.

Afterthoughts:  Great TV dress! Comfortable but girlie and elegant. Camouflaged the microphone incredibly well, kept me warm in the chilly studio, didn’t need top-stick to avoid wardrobe malfunctions.  I chose to cover my shoulders this morning, but perhaps next time I’ll go for the racier look.

Wardrobe Notes: Yoana Baraschi

I get to wear the BEST clothes on TV, and many of you regularly want to  know what designer I’m wearing, so I decided to start a new blog section called “wardrobe notes” to share all my glam — and not so glam! — behind-the-scenes fashion details.

I also want to hear YOUR feedback:  tell me what you love, what you hate, what you would have worn differently, what you’d like to see, or even share a picture of you in YOUR favorite outfit…this is your chance to be a member of the Fashion Police elite, so go for it!  Can’t wait to read your comments and post your pictures.

I’m happy to kick off this section with one of my favorite TV dresses of all time, and also the one that gets the most compliments…

Wardrobe Notes: Wearing Yoana Baraschi on THE EARLY SHOW

Designer: Yoana Baraschi

The Deets: 70s Glam Blow-Up Dress,$482 at www.yoanabaraschi.com

The Score:  This dress was a gift from the designer (!) after she saw me wearing another one of her dresses on “The Today Show.”  I think it’s the ultimate score!

History:  I’ve worn this dress for multiple segments plus a photo shoot with super celeb photographer Perry Hagopian.

Accessories:  Jimmy Choo metallic platform slingbacks (also a gift!) and Alexis Bittar gold circle dangle earrings (ditto on the gift — wow! quelle coincidence!).

Green Room Gab:  I got  – no joke — about a dozen compliments on my dress.  One woman even asked me to write down the name of the designer so she could track down the dress.  The good news is, it’s still available on Yoana’s website (I’ve posted the link above)!

Studio Secrets:  James, probably the best TV wardrobe coordinator I’ve ever worked with (J’adore him!), always sizes me up before I go on set to make sure nothing is popping out where it shouldn’t be popping out.  The neckline of this particular dress is very low and scoopy (dangerous territory for morning TV), and the microphone wire simply refuses to stay put.  James took one look of me and said, “Honey, you know I’m top-sticking you there!”  Nearly 10 perfectly-placed strips of top-stick later, I was ready for my close-up.
